Outline the potential impact of your research Be clear about the potential impact of your research. Don’t undersell or oversell your findings – explain the scale of the likely effect of any recommendations, what the potential benefits, implications, costs and limitations are of the findings and how they might be incorporated into practice or policy. Explain what there is to gain for your audience, how it is relevant and timely, and what impact you hope to achieve. Examples of possible outcomes could include: A change in behaviour, policy, and/or practice; Enhancing knowledge and making a contribution to a debate; Potential future collaboration with stakeholders; Eliciting feedback in relation to your ideas and research so far; The development of a commercial venture.
